The Orthodox Church in America (OCA) is an Eastern Orthodox Church group founded in 1794. It is the second-largest Orthodox Christian body in North America and its headquarters are based in Syosset, New York. The OCA is self-governing nation which is composed of both national and regional dioceses. It follows the traditional teachings of Eastern Orthodoxy, including seven sacraments, the veneration of saints and icons, and a liturgical structure based on the Byzantine Rite.

Originally founded as the Russian Orthodox Greek Catholic Church of North America, it was incorporated in Alaska in 1799 following the arrival of Russian Orthodox Christians in the Alaskan colony. They later reorganized as the Orthodox Church in America in 1970 with Autocephaly granted by the Church of Russia in 1970. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Mexico.
