Djoser Pyramid in Saqqara is the oldest surviving stone structure in the world. It is located in the ancient necropolis of Saqqara, in Memphis, Egypt. Djoser Pyramid was built during the Third Dynasty under the rule of Pharaoh Djoser. It is considered one of the most outstanding achievements of the Old Kingdom of Ancient Egypt. The complex consists of a series of stepped pyramids (the largest of which is 187 feet in height) and a number of other structures, including grand courtyards, colonnades, and a subterranean burial chamber. The pyramid complex underwent a series of expansions and renovations throughout its history, most notably during the reign of Pharaoh Snefru, who was responsible for introducing a number of changes, including an outer wall studded with statues and the addition of the Pyramid temple.
