The Church of the Holy Cross is a Christian parish of the Episcopal Diocese of South Carolina. The church has a long and distinguished history tracing its origins to 1747, when it was established as the first Anglican parish established in what is now Dorchester County. The first recorded rector was the Rev. Francis LeJau, who served from 1749-1764. The current brick sanctuary was built in 1841 and is one of the oldest Christian sanctuaries in South Carolina.
