The construction of the church was begun by the architect Diego de Siloé in the 15th century, and it was finished by Francisco de Villalpando in 1621. It contains elements of Renaissance and Plateresque styles, as well as a unique system of three bronze doors, decorated with scenes from the life of Saint Anthony of Padua.
