Bethel Baptist Church is a congregation of the American Baptist Churches USA, located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It was founded in 1836 and is the oldest African-American Baptist Church in the city. Bethel was originally established as an African Methodist Episcopal (AME) Church, and in 1844, it became a Union Baptist Church.

Bethel Baptist Church was first held in a small rented room at 6th & Christian Streets in Philadelphia. The church was founded in 1836 by Rev. Robert Miles, a prominent minister in the African Methodist Episcopal Church. Soon the congregation of Bethel grew to the point that a church building was needed and in 1841 a larger building to accommodate the growing membership was established at 7th & Christian Streets in Philadelphia.
