The Wooden Churches of the Slovak Carpathians In Slovakia is a group of nine wooden churches that are located within the mountainous areas of the Slovak Carpathians. The churches, built between the 15th and 16th centuries, are considered to be remarkable examples of Central European wooden architecture. In 2008, they were added to the UNESCO World Heritage List and are some of the most visited sites in Slovakia. Many of these churches are still active places of worship and host services and religious events.
