Brief History:

Masjid al-Mutawakkil (Medina) is located in Medina Saudi Arabia. It is one of the first mosques built in the Islamic world and since the seventh century, has been a major center of worship for Muslims from all around the world. According to Islamic tradition, the Prophet Muhammad gave the mosque as a gift to his relatives on his way back from the battle for Medina. Architecture:

The Mosque of Al-Mutawakkil, located in Medina, Saudi Arabia, was first erected of mud by the fundamentalist Abbasid Caliph in the 8th century A.D., and has been modified with the passage of time. The current design and construction of the mosque dates back to the late 18th century when it was commissioned by the Turkish sultan Abdallah Bey. The mosque is rectangular in shape and is characterized by its central hall with two plastered Iwan and four domed pavilions in the corners. The exterior walls of the building were originally constructed with mud brick but were later replaced with cut stone. At the main entrance there is a large wooden door contrasted with two smaller doors on the left and right sides.
