Brief History:

: Named after the famous Persian poet Omar Khayyam, Masjid al-Khayyam is one of the oldest and most significant mosques in Mecca. It was built in 1682 by Ottoman Sultan Abdul Aziz and today, it is a symbol of religious spirituality in Mecca. Architecture:

The Masjid al-Khayyam is a large mosque complex located in the holy city of Mecca, Saudi Arabia. It is surrounded by four lush green courtyards. The mosque was renovated in 2012 and can accommodate around 1 million worshippers. The complex consists of two main prayer halls, one large and one small, as well as small prayer rooms. The Mosque features a dome with an impressive limestone façade. The minarets are located on the south side of the mosque. The hall walls feature large marble plaques and is the place where the Imam delivers the afternoon sermon. The mosque also includes a library, restroom facilities, administrative offices, market stalls and various other amenities. The most impressive feature of the Masjid al-Khayyam is the 40-meter tall minaret located on the south side of the mosque. The minaret can be seen from miles around and is the tallest structure in the city. The mosque is known for its sound system, which allows worshippers to hear four sermons at once. The Masjid al-Khayyam is well-equipped with technology, including air conditioning, music, and multimedia displays, as well as CCTV cameras to monitor the area. This is why, it is considered one of the most beautiful mosque in the world.

Visiting Hours:

The visiting hours for Masjid al-Khayyam in Mecca, Saudi Arabia are the same as the general visiting hours at the Grand Mosque, which is from Fajr prayer to Isha prayer. This translates to approximately 4 AM until 11 PM. best mosque in the world.
