Balata SDA Church In Saint Lucia: History,Facts, & Services
History:
Founded in 1895 by seven members, Balata SDA Church quickly grew in its first year of operation to over 100 members. In 1910, the church was destroyed by an earthquake and recreated. The new building was constructed by members of the church.In the 1940s, Balata SDA Church opened a school for the poor in its grounds. The school provided free education to those students unable to otherwise afford it. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Saint Lucia.
