Close connections to St. Thomas, the 12th century Shrine of Santa Maria della Quercia and the venerated statue have made the site a spiritual sanctuary for many faithful Catholics. The shrine hosts special liturgies and services throughout the year, including yearly prayers and processions on the Feast of the Immaculate Conception and Rosary prayers on the third Sunday of October.
