The Church was officially founded in 1830 in upstate New York after Joseph Smith had a vision of Jesus Christ. After being persecuted and driven out of several locations in the United States, the Church relocated to the Salt Lake Valley in Utah in 1847, where it has since become the predominant religion. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in USA.
