History:
St. Mary & St. Mark Coptic Orthodox Church was founded in Tokyo in 1993 by Fr. Tadros Malaty, who served as its first priest. As the Coptic Orthodox faith spread in Japan, the congregation grew to include a large number of members, so much so that the Church moved to its current address in Setagaya-ku in 2003, in order to accommodate the burgeoning numbers. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Japan.
