The church was founded in 1164 and consecrated under the patronage of St. Lambert in 1180. History:

The original St. Lambert's Church was constructed in 1164 and consecrated in 1180. It underwent significant renovations in 1282 and was expanded a few hundred years later. The church was destroyed in a fireworks accident in 1720, but was rebuilt and expanded in 1722. In the 1780s, a new belfry was constructed, and the church was again renovated in the mid-19th century. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Germany.
