St. Ignatius Catholic Church is a parish of the Roman Catholic Church in the Diocese of San Bernardino, California. It was established in 1892 and is located in San Bernardino's Little Italy neighborhood. The church is named after St. Ignatius of Loyola, founder of the Society of Jesus. History St. Ignatius was initially established as a mission, located on 15th Street, in the Little Italy neighborhood of San Bernardino. It was quickly outgrowing that church and was moved to its current location, at 218 West 5th Street, in 1897. The current church building, a Gothic-style structure, was built in 1940 and expanded in 1966. Facts St. Ignatius Catholic Church is the headquarters of the San Bernardino Catholic Diocese’s Cursillista Movement and is also a contender for the title of California’s oldest existing Catholic church. Its congregation includes over 1,500 families. Services St. Ignatius Catholic Church offers daily, weekend and holy day Masses, as well as many other services such as funerals, baptisms, confirmations, weddings and communion. The church is also home to various ministries such as youth ministry, adult education, social outreach and a vibrant music program.
