The Pious Sodality of Picenes was founded in 1038 C.E. by a group of priests, religious scholars and lay people dedicated to spreading the Catholic faith in the area of Picene. Under the guidance of Bishop Astorgi, the Picenes traveled as far away as Rome and Rimini spreading the message of Catholicism. This lead to the majority of the city of Picene being converted to the Catholic faith. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Rome.
