History:

The museum was established in early 1918 as the Novonikolskoye Obshestvo Pochnykh Iskusstv (Novonikolskoye Society of Early Arts). It was the first specialized museum of fine arts in the region and one of the oldest in the country. In 1991, the museum was reorganized into the Novosibirsk State Art Museum. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Russia.
