Haga Park, located just outside of Stockholm, Sweden, has a long history stretching back to the 17th century when it was established as a royal hunting park. In 1710, Queen Ulrika Eleonora granted the park to her son, the future King Charles XII of Sweden, who commissioned the building of several palaces and other fine buildings in the baroque style. In 1732, King Frederick I gave the park to his daughter, Princess Sophia Albertina, and it soon became a popular location for walks and parties. Throughout the 18th and 19th centuries the park’s popularity continued to grow, and in 1896, Haga Park was opened to the public as part of the Stockholm Municipality’s Parks and Gardens department. Today, the park features carefully planned and landscaped gardens and paths, and is a popular place for recreation, walking, and biking.
