Church of Saint Pantaleon In Rome: History,Facts, & Services
History:
The church was built on the site of an earlier high-roman church and was dedicated to Saint Pantaleon. It was rebuilt in 1265, with elements of Romanesque, Gothic, and Baroque styles. The” Gero-Cross,” a wooden crucifix from the 10th century, is inside the church. The church was destroyed twice during World War II, but was rebuilt each time. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Rome.
