History:

The church began in 1903 when a handful of families in the Memphis area decided to form a new church. The church chose the name Bellevue Baptist at the suggestion of Dr. A J. Holt, who believed the word “bellevue” signified “beautiful view.” This small group gathered in homes until they outgrew its capacity and they were forced to rent a theater. From there the church moved to a tabernacle and, eventually, an open-air auditorium on the land that is now called Bellevue Middle School. In 1924, the church moved to its present location where the current sanctuary was constructed. Bellevue Baptist Church This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in USA.
