Susanna di Roma is a historic urban settlement located in the southeastern area of Rome, Italy. The settlement was established by the medieval popes and gained the status of an independent municipality in 1171 AD, when Pope Alexander III granted the city the right to elect its own magistrates. The city's name comes from the Biblical story of Susanna and the Elders, which is seemingly linked to a pond said to be located on the outskirts.
