The Romitorio di Sant'Angelo in Lacu is located near the city of Comacchio, in an area known as the Northern Apennines. It consists of a small villa, surrounded by a large garden and located in a marshy nature reserve. The small villa contains two separate dwellings: a hermitage dedicated to St. Angelo and a pilgrim hospice or reception room.

The Romitorio di Sant'Angelo in Lacu is open to visitors all year round, and entrance to the site is free. The area is a popular pilgrimage site for Catholics, and it is said to contain a relic of St. Angelo himself. The Romitorio was included in the Camino di San Jacopo in 2000 and has become a site of pilgrimage for many people.
History:
The story of the hermitage in Lacu, or “lake” dates back to the 11th century when St. Angelo of Pavia lived as a hermit in this area. He spent his time preaching and helping the poor who came to the hermitage. When St. Angelo died in 1097, a church was erected in his memory, and a number of pilgrims began regularly visiting the site.

The grounds offer several walking trails that visitors can use to explore the area.
