The house featured three-dimensional wall paintings, mosaics, precious marble flooring, and deluxe pieces of furniture. It was used as a display of the Roman way of life and is considered to be the oldest surviving example of its kind in Europe. Domus Romana was discovered in the late 19th century and has since been restored and opened to the public as a museum. It provides visitors with a glimpse into the Roman way of life and is a popular tourist attraction in Rome.
