New Cathedral is the Roman Catholic Cathedral of Saint Mary in the city of Lancaster, Lancashire, England. Built in the 19th century, it serves as the Anglican shrine and unique Methodist landmark of the Lancaster district.

History:
New Cathedral was built between 1868 and 1909, in response to the needs of the growing population of the 19th-century city of Lancaster. Designed by English architect Edward Welby Pugin (1834-1875), the building is built with local polychrome stone in the Gothic Revival style and is a Grade II* listed building. The interior of the cathedral is heavily decorated and contains fine stained glass throughout. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Portugal.

The cathedral stands 131 feet tall and 97 feet wide and is situated in the historic heart of the city. Inside, the north and south transepts have an open timber roof of 135 feet high, the nave an open domed timbered ceiling of about 90 feet, and the chancel an apse of 85 feet wide.
Services:
Sunday Masses of the Roman Catholic Church are celebrated in the cathedral each week from 9:00am to 10:30am and from 6:00pm to 7:30pm. Daily Masses are also held at 8:30am as well as Vespers at 5:00pm. Special services are held throughout the year, including on major feast days and during Lent. The cathedral is open to visitors daily from 10:00am to 5:00pm.This beautiful church in Portugal has made a lot of significance in the past.
