Built between 1732 and 1750, it is a national monument and is an outstanding example of the Late Baroque style. Its tall tower, topped with a bell cupola, offers an iconic image of the city.
History
Clérigos Church was commissioned in the mid-18th century by the Brotherhood of Clerics of Saint Paul. Construction started in 1732, under the direction of Italian architect Nicolau Nasoni. Clérigos Church was completed in 1750.

The Clérigos Church is considered by many to be one of the most important and impressive religious architecture examples of Porto, Portugal. It is the largest Baroque religious building in the country and was declared a National Monument in 1910.
The tower is 76 meters tall and is one of the most recognized symbols of the city of Porto. The bell chamber is decorated with six bells that are rung from time to time.
