History:
The original building dates back to 1409 and was founded by the first Bishop of Porto, Luís de Lund, to commemorate the martyrdom of Saint Lawrence. The church was originally built in Gothic style and underwent some renovations in the 17th century, transforming it into the Baroque church it is today. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Portugal.

The impressive wooden statues at the entrance are the work of Portuguese sculptor João Antunes, who also sculpted the Church of Saint Antonio in Porto and the Church of Santa Catarina in Braga.

Tours are available, allowing visitors to learn about its history and to discover the hidden secrets it holds. Masses are held regularly, with weekly Masses on Saturdays and special Masses on the 15th of the month.
