Overview:
Hai Hin Phu Salato is a megalithic archaeological site located in south-central Laos. It is the second oldest and best-preserved of the three main sites associated with the Plain of Jars phenomenon. Here, more than sixty intact burial jars are scattered across the grassy plains in five separate clusters. The site contains three older, smaller clusters and two, slightly larger clusters. It is believed that some of the jars may have been associated with funerary rituals, while others may have had a sacred purpose or served as water or grain storage. History:
The Plain of Jars is believed to have been created by an ancient people who inhabited southern Laos between 500 BC and 500 AD. These people likely cleared the land and leveled it before arranging the jars in their clusters.
