The temple spans over an area of 21 hectares and is comprised of three main parts. The second part of Phuoc Le Temple is known as the ‘Khuon Thap’ and is home to an array of ancient artifacts, including ancient drums and tombs. Phuoc Le is one of the most important and ancient sites in the region, with references pointing to its existence as early as the 12th century. It is home to a rare collection of intricate yin and yang lotuses on the side of its main pagoda, and it also has several Bodhisattva statues made of limestone. History:

The temple has been the site of several important events in Vietnamese history. In 1594, the temple was used for a gathering of 600 Buddhist monks for five days, thus creating the ‘International Buddhist Conference of Dai Viet’. During this period, many senior monks from other countries were invited and the temple was seen to become a hub of transfers of knowledge.
