The park was established in 2001 and is managed by the Vietnam Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. The park includes a variety of habitats, with most of the area being rainforest. Other habitats include beaches and coral reefs. The park's coral reefs are home to many species of fish and other aquatic life. Phu Quoc National Park
Facts:
The park covers about 40 percent of the island of Phu Quoc and is home to over 200 species of birds and 1,000 species of plants. Additionally, the park protects a number of threatened species, including the Asian Elephant, Clouded Leopard, and Sumatran Rhinoceros. Phu Quoc National Park
History:
The area was declared a national park in 2001, but the local community had been living and using the land for centuries beforehand. Additionally, the majority of the park’s wildlife has been naturally occurring. Phu Quoc National Park
Travel:
The park is accessible by air and by boat. There is a ferry service that connects Vung Tau on the mainland of Vietnam to Phu Quoc and takes approximately two hours. Additionally, there are a number of flights that connect Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi and other cities in Vietnam to the island. There are no roads in the park, so visitors will have to walk or take a boat to get around.
