Overview:
Phu Pha Thoep National Park is located approximately 600 kilometers from Bangkok in the eastern province of Khon Kaen. The park was officially established in 1997 and covers an area of about 221 square kilometers. It is comprised of several mountain ridges, deep valleys, and various kinds of natural habitat, including evergreen forests, dry dipterocarp forest, and grassland. The park is home to an incredible variety of flora and fauna, including over 400 species of plants and nearly 200 species of birds.

Phu Pha Thoep National Park is home to a variety of wildlife, including tigers, Asian golden cats, serow, goral, sambar deer, wild pigs, leopards, long-tailed macaques and more than 200 species of birds. The park also contains several important archaeological sites, as well as beautiful waterfalls, spectacular limestone formations and fantastic tourist viewpoints.
History:
Phu Pha Thoep National Park has a long and intriguing history. The area has been inhabited since prehistoric times and the park is the site of several archaeological sites. It was once home to an ancient kingdom and later, during the mid-18th century, served as a defensive border region between Thailand and neighboring Laos.
Travel:
The park can be accessed from the town of Nongkhon in Khon Kaen. Visitors can choose from a variety of accommodation options, ranging from budget guesthouses to luxurious resorts. There are several trails and attractions within the park, including scenic butterfly farming and bird-watching activities. Visitors can also enjoy kayaking and rafting along the Thoeng and Khao Khor waterways.
