History:
The mountain range has long been a home to people from tribes and ethnicities, including the Mueang, the Shan and the Kui peoples. It was in the early 1900s that larger expeditions began travelling to the range, such as those led by mountaineer R.C. Verbeck in 1924. Since then, the popularity of the area has grown as it has become renowned for its spectacular beauty and wildlife. Phu Mak Yang

The mountain range is easily accessible from the nearby towns of Kaeng Koi, Wang Saphung and Cheong Khae. There are several resorts and lodges where visitors can stay.
