The Virgin Mary Orthodox Catholic Church in the Philippines traces its origin to the Filipino Orthodox Church, established in 1975 by a group of Filipino laity and clergy led by Father Dennis B. Carreau. The Filipino Orthodox Church was part of the Orthodox Catholic Church of the East (OCE). The OCE was a short-lived organization which was founded in 1972 by five bishops of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia (ROCOR). The OCE was dissolved in 1980. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Philippines.
