It was founded in 1949 out of a union between the American Evangelical Friends Church (AEFC) and the Christian Church of the Philippines. The roots of the PEFCC go back to 1920. That was the year when the Philippine Mission of the American Evangelical Friends Church was formed. The original purpose of the mission was to spread the teachings of the Gospel to the Filipinos. Over the years, the influence of the American mission spread and the Filipino members began to form their own churches. In 1949, the Philippine Evangelical Friends Christian Church was formally organized by merging the Christian Church of the Philippines, which was formerly an autonomous church, with the Philippine Mission of the AEFC. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Philippines.
