The Parish of San Joaquin is a Roman Catholic parish located in the city of Iloilo in the Philippines. It is dedicated to Saint Joaquin, the patron of seamen and fishermen. It was founded in 1574 by Franciscan priests and is the oldest parish in the province of Iloilo. It is one of the best churches in Philippines which you must visit.

History:

The Parish of San Joaquin was originally part of the Archdiocese of Cebu. In 1777, the Archdiocese of Jaro was established and the Parish of San Joaquin became part of the newly created diocese. When the Diocese of Jaro was divided in 1962, the Parish of San Joaquin remained part of the Jaro Diocese. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Philippines.
