& Activities Russian Orthodox Gorny Convent - Moscovia Monastery in Palestine is a historic religious site located in the Palestinian village of Abu Dis, near Jerusalem. It was founded in 1883 as a branch of the famous Russian Lavra Gorny Convent in Moscow. The Convent is home to a community of nuns and has served as a homebase for many Russian pilgrims. It offered a wide range of services and activities aimed at the spiritual growth and religious education of its guests. Services included spiritual guidance, sermons, retreats, Bible study and prayer services, as well as ecumenical work. The Convent also provided medical care and shelter to Palestinian refugees and children from Tel Aviv and various other locales in the Holy Land. It offered educational programs and support for children of all ages, and was actively involved in development projects in the region. In 2021, the Russian Orthodox Church declared the Convent a holy place and a pilgrimage site.
