Brief History:
Al Musannah South Mosque is located in Al Musannah, Oman. It is one of the oldest and largest mosques in the country. The mosque was originally built in 1545 by Portuguese on the site of a much older mosque, which may have originally been built in the 11th or 12th century. The mosque was rebuilt in 1970 and is now one of the largest in the country. The mosque is noted for its awe-inspiring arches, Islamic-style facade, domed roof, and elegant arcades. This beautiful mosque is a popular place of worship for people of Islamic faith in Musannah. It is one of the most famous mosque in Oman which you must visit.

Travel Information:
Al Musannah South Mosque is a mosque located in Al Musannah, Muscat Governorate of Oman. The Mosque is surrounded by high mountains with a picturesque oasis located nearby. It has an open air basement which is ideal for offering a prayer with a breathtaking view of the majestic oasis and the clear sky. The mosque consists of two rows of four domes and two central semi-circular domes. It has a prayer hall, a mihrab, a minbar and a minaret. The mosque is located in an easy to reach place, just a few kilometres away from Muscat International Airport. By car, it can be reached in an hour and a half or less from Muscat, as it is situated close to the motorway and it is well signposted. The nearest bus station is located at the nearby Musannah Sports City, where buses from various routes can be found. Visitors to this mosque should be aware that women are required to wear a full Abaya while entering the mosque. Men must also wear a traditional attire. Photography is allowed only at the entrance and outside the mosque. Before entering the Mosque, shoes must be removed. beautiful masjid.
