The Mosque was remodeled in 1894 and is the third largest mosque of its kind in the country after Al Zawawi mosque in Al Qadim and Al Makki mosque in Nizwa, both built in the 16th Century. The Al Mazunah East North Mosque in Oman is a grand traditional-style mosque located in the small fishing town of Al Mazunah. The mosque’s architecture is reflective of the region’s cultural ties to its Islamic heritage and is a popular site for both local and international visitors. The mosque consists of two large prayer halls, a central dome, and a large portico. The main prayer hall is the larger of the two and is set on the east side of the mosque. It is framed by a beautiful arch and crowned by a grand dome, which is beautifully decorated with intricate patterns and Islamic calligraphy. The second prayer hall is the smaller of the two and is located on the north side of the mosque. The dome and the arches of the central prayer hall are made from local sandstone and limestone, and the walls of the mosque are made out of mud bricks and plastered white in the local Harir style. The mosque is further adorned by colorful stained glass windows, traditional Islamic tilework, and wooden accents. This is why, it is considered one of the most beautiful mosque in the world.
