Brief History:
Al Khuwayr South Mosque is situated in the Wilayat of Rustaq, located in the South Al Batinah Region of the Sultanate of Oman. The mosque was built in the 18th century by Sultan Al Busaidi and is believed to be one of the oldest in Oman. It has been attested as a historical site by the Ministry of Tourism of Oman. The mosque comprises of one large hall in the center with two small prayer halls on the sides, an ablution area outside the entrance of the mosque and a garden around the mosque premises. The mosque is decorated with beautiful tiles work, carved plaster designs and Islamic calligraphy. The mosque is visited by locals and tourists alike and is considered to be a symbol of Oman’s culture and heritage. It is one of the most famous mosque in Oman which you must visit.

The Al Khuwayr South Mosque is an architectural masterpiece located in the small seaside town of Quriyot, Oman. The mosque is made up of traditional Islamic design elements, such as intricate mosaic patterns on the walls, a grand marble-clad main dome, and four second-level prayer halls with a central courtyard. The interior has been designed to maximize natural light during the day, and is decorated with geometric patterns and hand-crafted Islamic art. The building is also equipped with air conditioning, making it a comfortable place to worship during the hotter months. Outside, the impressive façade is adorned with uniquely crafted Islamic decoration, such as carve statues of the prophets and petrified wooden calligraphy. This is why, it is considered one of the most beautiful mosque in the world.
