The mosque is believed to have been built during the late 15th century, during the reign of Ya'arub bin Su'ud, the sixth Ya'arubi Sultan of Oman. The mosque is a two-bay construction, with a single dome that is supported by four pillars and has two entrances and a mihrab. The mosque also has two minarets and two turrets. The interior of the mosque is decorated with Quranic inscriptions and blue-green domes. The walls are decorated with carved floral motifs. The mosque is built mainly of stone and mud and has a predominantly white exterior. The roof of the mosque is covered with clay tiles.
