Brief History:
Al Ashkharah North South Mosque is located in Al Ashkharah, a wilayat close to the Omani-Yemeni border, in northern Oman. It was built during the late 1970s and early 1980s, during Sultan Qaboos’s rule, and is designed in a traditional Omani style. The mosque has a large courtyard in which people can pray, and is decorated with ornate carved wood and detailed tile work. Inside the mosque, there are traditional geometric designs, along with inscriptions from the Quran. It features two rectangular minarets, and a central dome surrounded by four more. The mosque is also used for educational purposes, and includes a small library and classrooms. It is one of the most famous mosque in Oman which you must visit.

The Al Ashkharah North South Mosque in Oman features a unique blend of traditional Islamic and contemporary architectural elements. The mosque includes an enclosed courtyard with an ornately decorated main entrance leading into the prayer hall. Inside, the prayer hall features a domed ceiling and several piers and arches that are decorated with colorful geometric designs. Beyond the prayer hall, the mosque contains two minarets as well as a library, a meeting room, a kitchen, and a separate toilet area. The exterior walls are covered in white marble and feature several artful arches and inscriptions. The mosque also has a decorative minaret featuring a traditional Omani arch.
