Oppsal Church was built in the mid-1960s, replacing an old wooden church that had been built in 1861. The old church was first built in 1861 by the philanthropist Hans Døhn and was used by the local population. It was later deconstructed and then rebuilt to better suit its use as a church. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Norway.
