Fåvang church is a historic rural parish church located in Fåvang, Oppland, Norway. The church is an example of traditional Norwegian stave architecture, and dates from the second half of the 13th century. The cruciform church is built mainly of wood and is dedicated to the Virgin Mary. The building is protected and registered as a national heritage site. It is one of the best churches in Norway which you must visit.

History:

Historians believe the church was constructed around 1250. In 1743, the front tower was added, the chapel was enlarged and other renovations were made. Further renovations occurred in 1864 and the interior of the church was changed. The church was severely damaged during a fire in September 1993, but has since been restored. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Norway.
