Eidfjord kyrkje is the oldest surviving church in the whole of Norway, originally built in the 12th century. It has Viking-style carvings believed to be from the 11th century making it one of the oldest such pieces of art in Norway still visible today. It is located in Eidfjord, on the Hardangerfjord, about a two-hour drive from Bergen. The parish of Eidfjord was established in 1618, and the current church was built in 1634 by the local farmers.
