St Julius Catholic Church was founded in 1844 as a mission of St. Patrick’s Church. Later that same year, it became the first parish in the Central Business District of New Orleans. The Church has seen many changes over the years, but the last two were major ones: the installation of air conditioning and the replacement of the wooden altar with one of marble. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Nigeria.
