Fátima Church was founded in the late 19th century and originally named St. Joseph's Church. This name was changed to Fátima Church in 1965, when the name was given by Cardinal Cushing after the Marian apparition. The first pastor was Father Miguel Ferreira and the original building was dedicated on June 26, 1894.
