The church was built in the year 1822 and went through several renovations since then. It is the Church of the Most Blessed Sacrament and is considered a national historical site. History:

The original building was made of adobe and destroyed in 1820 due to an earthquake, and was replaced with a wooden one. In 1841, a new stone building was erected and renovated in the late 1940s. Eventually, in 1965, the new church was completed and was designed by Italian architect Antonio Lamón. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Nicaragua.
