The worship of the deity Changu Narayan is a traditional practice in many parts of Nepal. The temple of Changu Narain is typically illumined with rows of oil lamps and the chanting of sacred mantras. Offerings of incense, flowers and fruits are made to the deity along with sacred water from a holy pond in the temple. The temple is also often decorated with rangoli or colorful designs often created from chalk.
