The United Methodist Church in Namibia (UMCN) was formed in 1990, when the Area Annual Conferences in Angola and Namibia were united. It is part of the Central Conferences of The United Methodist Church. The UMCN currently comprises six districts: Eduardo, Omusati, Ohangwena, Oshana, Oshikoto and Khomas. The UMCN is devoted to the spread of the gospel in Namibia and provides training for churches and pastors. It is committed to inspire, empower, and equip its members so that they can faithfully and effectively live out their mission in the world. In addition, the UMCN provides links with other churches, mission groups, and Christian organizations to improve the life of the Namibian people. It cooperates with other Methodist Churches in Namibia and undertakes programs aimed at the relief of poverty and disabilities, promotion of peace and justice, and increasing the spiritual life and practices that strengthen family and community life. The church also offers children’s ministries, youth ministries, men’s and women’s ministries, and widows and orphans ministries.
