Namibian Catholic Bishops' Conference In Namibia: History,Facts, & Services
Namibian Catholic Bishops' Conference is a national body of the Catholic Church in Namibia. It is composed of all Catholic Bishops in Namibia who together provide pastoral guidance for the Catholic Church in the country. The Namibian Catholic Bishops' Conference was established in 1988 with the original members coming from the former Bishopric of Windhoek. Since then, it has added Bishops from two other dioceses and representatives from the religious orders. The Conference primarily provides guidelines and policies for the Namibian Catholic Church on how to best serve the faithful in the local area. The Conference also coordinates with other episcopal conferences to ensure the welfare of the Namibian faithful and contributes to activities of the World Council of Churches. Membership includes Bishops from the three dioceses in Namibia (Windhoek, Keetmanshoop and Rundu), as well as members of religious orders and an Archbishop of the African Symposium of Episcopal Conferences of Africa and Madagascar. The Conference meets twice annually to discuss and plan future activities.
