Worship Method:

The Thatta Maha Bawdi is a major Theravada Buddhist pilgrimage site in the Thatta district of Shan State in Myanmar. Pilgrims to the temple enter through the Eastern Gate and offer prayers by making offerings at the main shrine. Floral offerings are the most common offering, though meals, sweets and other offerings may be made. Pilgrims make their offerings with the help of a resident monk or priest from the temple. Offerings are usually followed by chanting of the Three Refuges and Three Jewels and other Buddhist teachings. After making an offering, pilgrims usually prostrate three times in front of the main shrine. Afterward, they will pay respect and homage to the resident monk or priest and the pagoda’s other shrines. Pilgrims are then encouraged to circumambulate (walk around) the pagoda three times in a clockwise direction. Upon completion of their devotions, pilgrims will receive a blessing from the resident monk or priest. This most visited temple in Myanmar
