History:

Yamunotri Temple is situated in the lower Himalayas, at an elevation of 3291m above the sea level. It is dedicated to Goddess Yamuna, the famous Hindu river goddess and sister of Lord Yamaraj. Yamunotri is the source of the Yamuna River and the northernmost of the Char Dhams of India. The temple was constructed by Maharana Pratap of Tehri Garhwal in the 19th century.
